Tortoise vs. Hare — University of Phoenix
Commercial Spots
This pair of commercial spots combines handcrafted miniature sets with traditional 3D character animation to bring a modern retelling of The Tortoise and the Hare to life for the University of Phoenix.
I served as 3D Lead and Lighting/Compositing Lead, overseeing asset creation, visual continuity, and final image quality across both spots. Physical miniature environments were photographed and then composited with animated characters created in Maya and rendered in V-Ray, with final compositing completed in Nuke.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, I contributed directly to asset development and participated in character and prop look development and shading. I worked closely with a highly skilled team of artists who delivered standout character lookdev, including exceptional shading and hair work, helping elevate the overall realism and charm of the final spots.
I led lighting and compositing for both commercials, focusing on seamlessly integrating photographed miniatures with CG characters while maintaining consistent tone, scale, and lighting across the campaign.
